Nutanix-certified VoyagerVM 3.0 to provide the DoD with an integrated, turnkey compute and communications solution ideal for mobile command and control.

Nutanix certification of the VoyagerVM 3.0 compute module provides troops with a wider range of choices when it comes to deployment configurations for the tactical edge.

November 4, 2021 (Herndon, VA) Klas,  a global leader in edge intelligence solutions, is pleased to announce the certification of its VoyagerVM 3.0 by Nutanix, a leader in hybrid multi-cloud computing. The integrated solution offering from the two companies offers greater operational simplicity and capabilities to meet the demands of highly distributed tactical operations. The VoyagerVM 3.0 is a compact compute platform built on the latest Intel® Xeon® processors.

The Klas VoyagerVM 3.0, powered by Nutanix, supports communications on and integration of multiple radio networks; underpinned by a software-defined hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) that integrates compute, virtualization, storage, networking, and security to power applications critical for a Common Operating Picture (COP) and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR). The DoD has turned to HCI to deliver IT services with the speed, operational efficiency, and agility of the public cloud in a Denied, Disrupted, Intermittent, and Limited (bandwidth) (DDIL) environment. Warfighters receive unprecedented simplicity in a lightweight and rugged package that can be easily deployed in theatre without requiring specialized IT skills.

This certification means that this solution meets Nutanix’s stringent performance and interoperability requirements for the Klas VoyagerVM 3.0 platform to provide warfighters with a seamlessly integrated user experience. More information on the Nutanix certification for KLAS products are here. (https://www.nutanix.com/products/hardware-platforms.) This continuity of experience allows for simplified operations as well as additional capabilities such as moving common workloads across the enterprise to the tactical edge. This means reducing the time required to deploy the solution and enabling commanders in theatre to have the technology and data at the point of need, to support their decision-making process in real-time.

“We know the Department of Defense is looking for rugged, tactical solutions to help them communicate and support their operations in real-time, but existing offerings lack the necessary security or are cumbersome to deploy and manage,” said Chip George, VP Public Sector at Nutanix. “Klas VoyagerVM 3.0 with Nutanix helps enable the DoD to scale as needed, from a single node for increased mobility, to portable cloud computing solutions that can be deployed within minutes in austere environments. All this without needing to re-architect mission-critical applications that are necessary to their operations and mission.”

“The days of packing in separate rackmount solutions for computing, communications, and data storage are a thing of the past,” said Frank Murray, CTO at Klas. “The VoyagerVM 3.0 on  Nutanix gives expeditionary forces the agility to deliver secure comms and data in the most remote location, empowering safe data intelligence in a compact and ruggedized solution, engineered for the freedom to go anywhere.”

Nutanix is a single platform that can span private, distributed and public clouds, enabling government IT to deploy applications and workloads where it best suits each mission. Government IT can now run and manage these applications and workloads with unparalleled availability, performance, and simplicity. In addition, Nutanix integrates security into every step of its solution stack from the early stages of development. For example, the Nutanix core HCI platform conforms to standard Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to maintain a security baseline configuration based on common standards established by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Based on this, the Nutanix core HCI platform was tested and selected for inclusion on the Department of Defense Information Network (DoDIN) Approved Products List (APL). https://aplits.disa.mil/processAPList.action
